Spaghetti anabasis. XIII - the submarine S-518, "Nazario Sauro"

continue along the Sea Museum of Genoa. Now we descend down transatlantic exhibition and go to the submarine S-518, standing in one of the processes of the harbor Old Port (Porto Antiko). It opened as a museum only in 2010, and demobilized from the Navy in 2002 - that is, the boat is quite modern generation. Let's see what the Italians for submarines, with what they eat. Particular attention - on the technical design and detail:)

1. View of the boat with the third tier of the Maritime Museum - there it is. Now go down there.

2. The boat itself is called "Nazario Sauro" (Nazario Sauro), in honor of the Italian hero of the First World, a sailor, who was executed by the Austrians in 1916. The boat is small, modern (Served in the Navy 1980-2002) with the characteristics of moderate means and in essence, is the granddaughter of the German masterpiece project XXI (1943). It is a little smaller XXI-th, high-speed performance by about 30% higher depth also improved by about a third (from 220 to 300 m). Of course, electro-mechanical filling is very different, more compact. However, the arrangement is similar to my German grandmother: 6 nasal TA and lack of fodder, 2 decks. Only within a much freer and more impressive: If Germans are obsessed with efficiency, shoved into their military boat already 23 torpedoes (with located in the torpedo tubes), then the Italians - a total of 12.

3. View from the stern. Well, we go?

4. Inspection start with stern compartment. Here especially anything interesting: drive handlebars, descend into the battery well, tanks, etc.

5. Electromotive compartment.

6. Fasting motor control. Design, of course, much more "free" than the early Soviet or German, more emphasis on tsvetografiku.

6a. Control motor.

7. Inscriptions me, of course, delighted:)

8. Aqua Mare, aqua dolce ... as possible to such be indifferent? :)

9. Diesel motor room and descend into the pits (closed to visitors).

10. More room for the officers, but the boat left - the commander's cabin (Single individual).

11. The commander has a washbasin. There also are razors, toothpaste, Towelie.

12. The mirror reflects some subjects. What is it? Obernai.

13. Italians - big comedians, so did the installation "cowards commander." As befits a boat, they are not sterile clean, and moderate gryaznosti. Also draws attention to elegant design hangers - still the heirs of Michelangelo. That is all very realistic:)

14. Approaching to the central office.

15. The descent down into the cabin. Alas, it was closed due to excessive coolness ladder for most visitors.

16. In the central post. To put the video below - note that the boat was "alive". The Italians, as usual, from all sorts of flashing lights, blinking radar, heart-rending voice talks of the crew and other entourage, to the great joy of children and elderly veterans. In general, it looks very funny, but once I did got to voice their ambush. It happened in the nose compartment: closing the lid TA, I did something accidentally clicked and immediately start up the side of the loud engine torpedo vibrating the entire bay. Honestly, for five seconds, I reflexively struhnul, until I realized that this is such a funny joke adult man.

17. Navigation equipment.

18. Radars fun blink and they change their pictures every few seconds.

19. Chart table with a map.

20. If I'm not mistaken, control valves, ballast tanks. Also in the style of Michelangelo :-)

21. Speed, in knots. Scale marked 25, but in reality this boat more than 20 of TTX did not give, at the full speed.

22. Negotiating unit.

23. Posted by watching the situation in the harbor through the periscope.

24. Captain cabin, but on the other hand, the other a coward.

25. A look back at the CPU and the periscope. Go ahead.

26. More berths for crew members.

27. We go in the torpedo compartment.

28. Layout torpedoes, very expressive and polished.

29. Bow torpedo tubes (feeding on a boat there). On video (Fifteen minutes), see different parts.

Video 2. S-518: bow section (torpedo)

30. The lantern is also beautiful in Italian design.

31. Get out upstairs, inspection is completed. Felling, alas, is not available, but on it is faded red star :-).

be continued.
